"Homo sapiens, the first truly free species, is about to decommission natural selection, the force that made us.... Soon we must look deep within ourselves and decide what we wish to become." Edward O. Wilson Consilience, The Unity of Knowledge
There has been an exponential increase in technological advancement. With this increase, we can now create and view our "ideal selves." The ideal self, however, is a cultural construction. It is now faster and easier to "enhance" the body. I believe two things will emerge as a result of this technological advancement: gender differences will become more prevelant and stereotypic, and there will be increasing debate over where the identity of a person actually lies.
